Back In Time – Belated Summer 2018 Post

So this past summer I put myself into a situation where I had not one, not two, but a dozen anime that I was trying to watch all at once. (Well, not all at once, but you get where I am coming from.)

I actually had a hard time doing that because for some reason I can’t seem to sit down and watch anime 72 hours straight anymore. The cause of this may be erectile dysfunction, but I’m not a doctor so I’m not going to speculate.

Regardless, I ended up with a ton of anime to watch and got so far behind that I didn’t feel like I could do a good recommendation post. So here I am posting about some of the anime I watched that I think you should too, if you’ve not already done so.

This post isn’t going to be as detailed as the ‘real’ recommendation posts, but none the less I hope you enjoy it!

Chio-chan no Tsuugakuro

This was, without a doubt, the funniest anime of the Summer 2018 season. Story follows nerdy gamer girl Miyamo Chio and sort of her friends as well. Her goal in life is to go unnoticed. She doesn’t want to stand out, make waves, or do anything that would bring attention to her.

This is countered by her ‘imaginative’ ways that she goes to school, something that gets her trapped in the men’s room, involved with a biker gang, and in a ‘martial art’ called Kabaddi…

This show is a must watch.

Hataraku Saibou

Also known as Cells At Work.

That tweet pretty much says all you need to know about this wonderful anime. It’s an educational show about all the cells in your body turned into (mostly) cute anime girls, all directed by Quinton Taratino.

It’s amazing how fun a show can be that has a rather boring premise (how your immune and cardiovascular systems work). Absolutely a must watch.

Happy Sugar Life

This show gets a lot of hate online and I am not sure why. The show is pretty interesting and the main character, Satou, is pretty likable despite the fact that you should not, under any circumstance, like her.

It can be kind of mind-fucky, and the ending was not as I expected it, which was a nice surprise, while also being a massive disappointment. The color in the show is great; Satou is not outlined in black, but in blue which makes for a great aesthetic.

If you’re into suspense thrillers, you have to check this show out.

Harukana Receive

This is a show about women’s beach volleyball. This really should be the end of the reasons why you should watch this show, but in reality, it’s only the main reason.

The show is based in Okinawa where Tokyo girl Oozora Haruka moves in with her cousin. Her cousin is a shy one, but the two bond over beach volleyball. They form a volleyball club at school which results in fun times with cute girls doing cute things but in bikinis.

The story, the bonding, and the way the friends have to compete with each other is all great, and the show is set up for a next season which I hope like hell it has. The story-boarding and cinematography is ridiculously spectacular as well. Some director must have made up his mind that the glorious butts wouldn’t be the most visually appealing part of the anime.

He came very close. Watch this show.

Some other shows that were good last season:

Jashin-chan Dropkick

Motto: Fuck The 4th Wall. Fun show about devils and angels and witches.

Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu

Yet another show about an OP prick who is transported into a universe that matches his favorite MMORPG. Main character is socially inept and has to stay in his OP prick character to talk to anyone. There’s a cute cat girl and a big boobied elf. Quite watchable.

Asobi Asobase

This show is a ridiculous reaction face generator. Watchable.

Satsuriku no Tenshi

Angels of Death is confusing, boring, fun, and terrible. Despite all of this, I couldn’t stop watching it. So, recowarn?

Also Rachel is like 11. STOP TRYING TO SHIP HER WITH 20-SOMETHING ZACK.

There are some other shows I was watching and either gave up on, or decided I would try to finish later (Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san). If I ever decide to recommend them, I’ll let you all know.
